And then there was bulk! It sounds like a far cry from bites but it’s actually quite a close cousin. How do you get from bulk to bites? That’s right – just cut it into little cubes! Pretty revolutionary 😉 Actually, bulk is not only the most cost-effective, eco-friendly option for both manufacturer and consumer but it’s also the most versatile.
Here’s an example: It’s Tuesday afternoon and 3 big blocks of delicious, freshly handcrafted GoodBar arrive at your doorstep as per your order at the beginning of the week: 1 Coffee Hazelnut, 1 Peanut Butter and 1 Winter Spice. You are having a some inlaws who are visiting from out of town over for dinner.
The first thing you do is take the 3 blocks out of their bags and cut each one into 5 smaller units, of which you leave 1 out of each flavor and freeze the rest in air-tight freezer bags. Next, you shave off some slabs of the Coffee Hazelnut with a cheese slicer – that goes on the biscuits plate for dessert. Then, you crumble off some of the Apple Cinnamon into a bowl for a topping on the Caesar Salad. Finally, with the Winter Spice you cut off a nice chunk which you cut further down into 2cm cubes. Those are placed nicely on saucers, to be served as an after-meal pick-me-up with a hot cup of Bengal Spice tea. The 3 blocks are wrapped back up in airtight freezer bags or containers and put back on the shelf for tomorrow. Well done.
The idea of offering GoodBar in bulk stems from 3 primary factors:
1) offsetting artisinal pricing by offering a cheaper option
2) reducing carbon footprint by eliminating individual packaging and
3) The fun factor – leaving some of the fun for you the customer. So when you come back from a nice run ready to roll some Chocolate Mint GoodBar balls, you don’t have to start from scratch making your own dough. It’s all ready for you.
